A Pittance of Time - The Fallen Heroes Foundation

On Saturday night, I had the privledge to attend my first military function. It was a banquet for the Fallen Heroes Foundation. The night included a meal, and entertainment, as well as a few speeches from different officials.

I was a bit reserved going into this, as I hate being forced to mingle with strangers. There was a debate on what I was required to wear (just between Jeremy and I) and I was really dreading the whole damn thing! I emailed Jeremy's CO's wife to get the in on what I should wear, she gave me a lovely breakdown of what is required for most events. It's been rather cold here so I elected to go with a pant business suit and of course my poppy. I fit in pretty good in the attire side of things.

The appetizers/h'orderves were amazing. I especially liked the cheddar crisp with pear and chicken, but they also had cheddar topped with apple and pork and a cranberry. Jeremy loved those ones best, but I'll stick to my cheddar crisp. Even though the name is deceiving as the cracker thing is not actually crispy. lol

Jeremy and I met an older gentleman and he had just retired recently from the military. Just before he retired he had been working with the rehab and helping soldiers get back on their feet after injury. I am sure his job was both enlightening and heartbreaking.

While we were out in the lobby, having our h'orderves and trying to mingle a little, I was quizzing Jeremy on the hooks, rings, crests and other things that many of the service men and women wore on their uniforms. I also learned the difference between the blue, green and other color uniforms. I am afraid that I will not remember all of the information, I do know that a corporal wears two hooks, a master corporal wears two hooks and a maple leave, people with more rank don't have hooks or rings at all, but they have crests on their sleeves. I tell you it'd be nice to know this incase I do need this information some day.

Once we got inside and seated at a table we were joined by two other couples who were all in the military. I felt a bit out of place being the only civy at the table, as I did not understand half of the abreviations they were using or did I have much of a care for what they were talking about. Everyone at our table was a corporal, except for one and she was a master corporal. They were all supporting people, like clerks or what not. But soon I learned that they were all from the east coast! Phew! I didn't feel so out of place after that. There were two Newfies, and two Nova Scotians at my table. What a relief that was, we could talk about home!

For our meal we had: for starters a garden salad with saskatoon berry dressing (kinda...sour dressing, wasn't something I would rush out to by). Then we had a pumpkin soup...mmmm sooo good!. Main course was Alberta Steak (yes there is a difference), potatoes, a mix of veggies, some tomato thing, which I am sure was more of a decoration. For dessert we had a personal cake with a digital image, the cake had vanilla like shavings on the outside and oranges in the middle. Very good meal.

For entertainment, we heard from Terry Kelly. He wrote the song and video I'm going to try to link to this, but the name of it is Pittance of time and if you go to You Tube, it's the only song that comes up under Terry Kelly.

Before he started his skit/singing (as it was a delightful mix of the two) he told a few stories that I thought I would share here. One will help explain his video and the other is just a meaningful story.

When Terry was in high school/junior high he was made to attend the assemblies that we all had to attend on Rememberance Day. One year he and his friends were behind some Vets for the ceremony. He and his friends were grumbling about the two mins of silence that were coming up, probably discussing what they would rather do with their two mins. The Vet turned to the boys and said "I want you to take the next two mins and think of all the good things in your life. This will show you number one, the two mins will fly by and number two, you cannot think of all the good things in your life in two mins. We gather on this day to honour the men and women who have helped us to have our country the way it is."

Terry said that since that day he has always taken those two mins at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month to reflect on all the good things in his life.

A few years later, Terry was in a store on Nov 11th. The store announced that they would be recognizing the two mins of silence and that they hoped their customers would join them as well. Terry thought what a great thing for the store to do, how respectful of them. At 11am they started their two mins of silence. There was a man and his daughter who looked to be about 8yrs old. The man continued talking to his daughter, she backed away from him and Terry eventually turned around and put his finger to his lips and said "Shhh" The man grumbled some more and continued to talk. Eventually he left the store before the two mins were up, but the daughter stayed to respect the two mins. He came back afterwards to finish shopping and what not, his daughter looked at him and said "Dad, that was really embarassing". Terry was annoyed that this mans daughter knew more about respect then he did. Shortly afterwards, he wrote the song.

The entertainment itself was a skit about a couple during WWI. He leaves without saying good bye to his new wife as she is away when he gets his notice. She finds out she is pregnant, he keeps saying he will be home at christmas. Unfortunately, he never gets home. After each little segment, there is a song or two played to fit the mood of the segment.

Overall, it was a great evening, and I hope that Jeremy and I will have the chance to go again next year.

1st Week at Work

Let me tell you, parking in downtown Edmonton is much different then parking in Downtown Fredericton!!! LOL

I started my new job on Monday, November 5. Since my car had not yet arrived from Oromocto (surprising I made it before the car and the car came by train!!!), Jeremy took me to work and dropped me off and then had to come pick me up again.

Jeremy dropped me off by a Tim Horton's which was great because I had some place to relax before starting work, even though my belly was a little knotted up from the excitement and anticipation of starting my new job. When I got out of the car and walked a couple of feet I was handed a newspaper called Metro....for free!!!! I was kind of excited about that because I had nothing to read and figured that the newspaper would have something in it to entertain me. I went to Tim's grabbed a hot chocolate and settled in with my newspaper for work. It didn't work much really, because I looked up everytime anyone got close to me, crazy I know...not like I would know who anyone was! lol

I did read that Halifax got hit pretty bad by Tropical Storm Noel...or something. A lot of people without power. Either way the hour went by pretty quickly and then I headed off to my new job which was a block away. I took the front elevator up to my office which is on the 5th floor. I don't think I'll be taking the stairs much, 5 flights sure seems like a long way up!!!

Upon arrival, I'm handed paperwork that needs to be finished filling out so that they know I work there! Then Phyllis comes to train me. I had one full day of training and have been on my own for the rest of the week. Well I work in a team, so I'm not really alone, but I've had to ask probably 100 questions.

I did pretty good all week, seems that the ones I get back with mistakes are the ones that the girl who trained me helped me with. I've well with all the ones I have done on my own!

On Tuesday, Jeremy and I went to get my car afterwork. What an adventure that turned out to be! Let's just say I am glad I do not have to cross the river to go home at night! It's really busy and conjested in the evening! Everyone out here seems to work 8 to 430. It's great, but makes for a long day when I leave the house at 615am and I don't get home until 6pm.

On Wednesday, I had to find my own directions to work and find a parking space. This did not go well. There are 100's of places to park downtown. The problem is the cost of them. I didn't want to pay 12dollars for the day, so I drove until I found one at 6 dollars a day. I parked there, and was running a bit late so I rushed off to work. After work tho, I couldn't remember where my car was! LMAO! Yeah so I walked around for like 10 mins trying to figure out exactly where the car was. I felt so dumb. Jeremy called to see how my day went and I said ...in my very sarcastic tone...can you hear it?? "ohhhh....Just GREAT" LOL....He wanted to know what went wrong, so I told him. He offered to come help me look for it, but I wouldn't let him. I said "I'm the idoit who didn't take in the surroundings this morning, I should have to find it on my own." I knew I was on 108 st...but I had no idea where. LOL After a little more walking I learned that I had not walked far enough up the street. Who loses their car?!?!?! UGH!

Jean a girl that I work with said to me on Friday that everytime I have a dumb spell, it's ok to blame it on the baby, as it's just the baby inheriting my smarts. At this rate the child will be a genious and I will be a moron. lol.

Thursday and Friday I parked in a 3 dollars a day lot, by the downtown Casino. I figure if I can find the Casino, I can find the car! LOL Here are some pictures I took from the lot that I have been parking in.

Tucker and Snow

Jeremy and I took Tucker for a walk the other day and happened apon an arena. Which had a pile of snow out back. We then let Tucker off the leash to let him experience the snow! He had a blast!

He was bitting it and jumping in it, he really had a great time playing in the snow! I'm sure he'll b e a great help for when we decide to build a snowman! lol

In Winnipeg until Saturday October 27

We got here on Friday morning, we drove straight through!! Ohhh my was it ever a long drive and did I ever get cranky at the end, I was very glad to get here and go to sleep. Winnipeg is a nice city and I think that if you haven't ever been here, it should be make it on the list of things to do sometime. It's a big city, I think Fredericton would fit into like 3 streets! lol

Saturday Jeremy hung out with his buddies, and I relaxed at home still recovering from the driving. His mom seems nice. I briefly met some of Jeremy's friends, Mason and Hippy Dave. They are odd people, but that is what I had expected from the stories Jeremy had told me about them. Jeremy went out to the bar on Saturday night and was hilarious when he got home. He couldn't get the door unlocked so he banged on the window to get me to let him in, then he complained about why people would lock their door when other people, WHO HAVE A KEY, can't get in. he was just being drunken silly. That and he said babe know how I said we have 4000 dollars saved? Well, we need to change that to 3900 dollars. LOL...he's so funny.

Sunday, Jeremy took me out to show me his old house where he grew up, and his high school, where his friends lived and those such things. Then we went for supper at Grandpas house. It was a good meal, and good times. Altho his grandpas house is like steping into the 70's. Seriously it's like an episode of That 70's Show. OMG I so wish I could better describe the wallpaper, as the house has absolutely no paint, it's all wallpaper! LOL it's a huge house for an older man, however, Grandpa seems quite content with his house.

After supper we went to a pond across the street to see the Geese (that seems to be spelled incorrectly). There sure are a lot of them!!!

On Friday we went to the forks after we woke up. The Forks are quite tourist attraction, however I was more interested in the candy store that was in a train! LOL I had a Willy Wonka Chocolate bar...Yummy!! But my bar did not have a Golden Ticket in it, therefore no tours of Wonka Chocolate Factory for me! LOL

Apparently there is a bigger candy store, which Jeremy has promised we can go to before we leave, and I hope so because I could really go for some peanut butter fudge.

Sunday evening we went to the University of Manitoba, it was quite the trip, I enjoyed walking around the campus and seeing the buildings that Jeremy had his classes in.

Ohhhh and Saturday evening jeremy to me and his mom to OLIVE GARDEN!!!!!! IN CANADA!!!!!! I was too excited about that!! I really wanted to go there, from the time I seen the sign all the way to Saturday so like 2 days! LOL It was delicious!

Last Day at UPS

After 7 years of employment at UPS, Friday, October 5, 2007 was my last day. I will miss the people I have met and built relationships with and even some of the ones that I haven't.

The girls at work are awesome, I have had the opportunity to work with some of the most sentimental and thoughtful people I have ever met.

Thursday, we had a potluck at work and the workgroup got me a few things as going away gifts. I got a picture of Fredericton in a frame, it's so beautiful, I love it. I also got a little outfit for the baby on the way in the color green with a little green hat to go with it. I also got a heart monitor, which will let me listen to the baby's heart beat at home, I can also record it and email it to friends. They took a group picture and had everyone sign a card and the group picture they are holding a sign that says "We'll Miss You" that made me cry a little bit. I'm very lucky to have worked with such fine people!

So Much News

Most of the people who read this already know all my news, but I guess it's time to share it with the people who might not know. LOL

Let's see where do I start,

Moving to Edmonton.

As of October 19th, I will no longer be a resident of New Brunswick. Actually on that day, I will be in limbo between provinces, so it'll be a bit like I don't have a home. LOL On October 9th, I will be flying out to see Jeremy and to go on our house hunting trip. It will have been 3 weeks since I had seen Jeremy last, can you say wonderful reunion?!?!?! And because he's in the military, my life will have lots of those wonderful reunions!!

We fly home together on October 15th, and after 5 hectic days of last minute things, we will be heading out by car towards Edmonton. The dog will be driving out with us, however the kitties get to take a plane ride. I'm not so sure they are excited about it though, I took them to the airport today to make sure the Kennel we have is sufficient by Air Canada standards (which it was...phew!!!). and they weren't impressed with the car ride. Ohh well, let's just hope that Air Canada doesn't lose them in the travels!

My last day of work at UPS is October 5th. This kind of saddens me, as I have made some amazing friends there, and I will miss them all greatly. So many people there have touched my life in one way or another, that I will never forget my 7 years at UPS. By the way, October 5th is NEXT FRIDAY!!! Ugh, the time went by really fast for me.

I have a job once I get to Edmonton. It's with another broker. Russell A. Farrow. I'm excited about this, as it relieves the stress of moving without work. It's doing pretty much exactly what I am doing now at UPS, just in a different city and with different people.

Unfortunately, during all of this, my dad was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. That "C" word certainly is a scarey and stressful one. My poor mom and dad have had quite a bit on their minds lately, needless to say. He's started Chemo treatments in Fredericton, and I'm praying to God they work. On a side note here, let me add that the people in my hometown continue to amaze me, even though I do not live there anymore. The local Home Hardware (which my dad worked for, for 32 years) donated shingles, and two screen doors, and about 12 people from the community showed up to do the work, how wonderful is that?

In other good news, I'm 13 weeks pregnant. Jeremy and I both are excited about the baby, however the timing could have been a bit better. Since we are in the process of moving and what not, it makes things a little stressful for me, since he is away in Alberta on a tasking, which leaves me to tie up the loose ends.

Tucker Has A Puppy Friend!!!

I have been so excited on Wednesday myself, Dawn and Joy went to the dog park in Fredericton. Liam and Rascal had a great time playing, however Liam didn't like it when Tucker tried to play with Rascal. He would bark and chase Tucker away. Dawn said she will work on that for next time.

But on Wednesday, a little boxer puppy named Tyson was there. He's about 3.5 months old, brown in color, he's really cute. Tucker and Tyson hit it off pretty quick and they played most of the time both doggies were there! It was nice to see Tucker engaging in play with another dog. Mostly he hides under the bench, and that is where most of the play happened, but it was cute and very exciting for me.

Today, Jeremy and I took Tucker to the dog park again, as we usually do on Sunday afternoons if we are home. I didn't see Tyson coming to the park, but Tucker sure did! He went to the door to greet him. I see Tucker going to the door and thought that's odd, Tucker never goes to the door to meet new dogs. At the time all I could see was a white dog named Ozzy. In through the door walks Tyson, then it all clicked in for me. Tucker met Tyson at the door, however, would not let him into the park very far, so I had to go get him off Tyson. The person who usually brings Tyson to the park is a male, however this time he was with a female. Of course she doesn't know that the two of them played on Wednesday so I explained to her that they had become friends on Wednesday. Of course, she seems like the over protective mother type. So I'm trying to make Tucker behave, of course he just wants to play with Tyson and can't understand why he is not allowed this time. Eventually, the "over protective mother" backed offa bit, when she realized that Tucker wasn't going to hurt Tyson. So the two of them played again today, and Jeremy got to see him play. Which is good, because it is an exciting thing to see. For those of you who have kids, it's like your kid going to school and coming home with a friend for the first time. It's that kind of exciting, like a relief of some sort. "Phew, my kid isn't going to be a loner" kind of relief. LOL

I'll try to snag a picture of Liam, Rascal and Tyson to add to the post here so you can see what kinda puppies I'm talking about.

Ohh, Wednesday was Rascals first time to the park, and Joy said he quite enjoyed himself and he keeps running to the car everytime they go outside. She said it's like he's saying "maybe this time she'll take me to the park to play with the puppies!" LOL We've decided to make the Wednesday thing a regular thing, which is good because Tucker needs the socialization and Rascal really enjoys playing with all the puppies!

So for the people I have worked with I have been talking about my yellow house. Even some of my family has not seen my house yet.

Welcome Kaylee Jennifer Marie Grant

My friend Jennifer and her husband Jamie are the proud parents of their first baby girl. Riley, who is Jennifer and Jamie's first child, is very excited about the new addition of Kaylee.

I must say she is perfect! At 6 lbs 1 oz she is gorgeous! She has 10 finger and 10 toes and is healthy, which is all a person can ask for.

I got to hold her when she was less then 2 hrs old! What a little darling!!!! I'm not sure how long she is as no one seemed to know the length of the sweetheart, but that's ok I'm sure I'll learn that at some point!

Congrats to Jennifer, Jamie and Riley! Kaylee sure is lucky to have a family like you three!

So Bad at This!

Seems I suck in the world of blogging! I have done so much in the last little while and have not blogged a word of it. If Jeremy ends up posted to Manitoba, I'm going to have to learn to be better at this because for some people it will be one of the only ways to stay up-to-date in my comings and goings.

So let's start with the May long weekend. Jeremy, Tucker and I went to PEI to help mom and dad open the trailer up. Dad wasn't feeling well so Jeremy did most of the outside work. I really suggest going to the island for the long weekend in May...why you might ask...well if you aren't into touristy stuff...ie Anne of Green Gables, and the other amusement parks over there, there is no one else on the island. Cavendish was like a ghost town, but I have to say it was very nice to be able to pull out from the campground and drive up the road at the speed limit. Normally, I'm stuck behind one tourist or another and going like 30km/hr through Cavendish..when all I really want is a Timmy's Coffee! LOL We took Tucker to the beach and had a blast playing with him. He was chewing on everything and picking everything up in his mouth. He really enjoyed it. However, at that time he was still just a baby and he got tired really quickly. So I picked him up onto my knee so he wouldn't be cold. (I know he's baby'd so much, but the cats get it just as much!) That is when Jeremy snapped this picture of me and Tucker.

Now let's move on to I dunno what went on next... We'll move forward, I don't think anything exciting happened in June. Ohh, unless you count puppy classes. Jeremy and I signed (actuallly it was more me) Tucker up for Puppy Class at Pawsative Rewards here in Oromocto. One thing I have decided is that if I'm going to have an 80lb dog that I need to walk and take care of, he better damn well listen to me and know his commands. I also wanted to socialize him with other puppies, so that he will know how to behave around other dogs. Thursday, July 5th was his graduation. Unfortunately, Tucker did not really play with the other puppies that much. He would rather sit between Jeremy and I and watch the other puppies horse around. However, on Thursday, he was much more interested in the other puppies. Go figure, the last night of class and he decides he wants to play with them! LOL Ahh well, they don't offer any courses for the summer so there will be no Grade 1 in Tuckers near future, until Jeremy finds out where we will be moving, at that time we will be back in contact with our trainer to find out where a good spot to go would be. I emailed her for a class picture, and will add it when I get it.

I only know the dogs names, I have no idea on the owners! LOL but from left to right we have Sophie, Rosie, Maggie, Boss, Zeus, and my little Tucker! lol...missing from the picture is Trigger who was a bit of aggressive.

For the July 1st weekend, I sooked my way to the Cabot Trail. haha! I told Jeremy that if there was a possibility of us not being on the East Coast come September, then I wanted to see the Cabot Trail before we went. He had just come out of the field after spending 5 days out in the wilderness with the guys, sleeping on the ground and what not, here I was convincing him that camping would be awesome! lol but I won and Jeremy, Tucker and I headed out to the Cabot Trail on Friday. After about 5 hrs of driving we got stopped because the Natives had the road blocked. We were stopped there for about 45 mins before we could continue on our travels. We arrived at the campground at about 845pm and quickly checked in, and headed to town to get some food. During the weekend, we decided to hit all of the waterfall trails and then Jeremy seen the Skyline Trail and he wanted to do that one. However, no dogs were allowed on this trail. We thought about just taking him anyways, however the trail seemed to be quite busy and there were always people around. We didn't know why we couldn't take Tucker, so we stopped at information and asked. It was because there are a lot of moose on that trail and Tucker might bark, which would cause the moose to charge. Not exactly my idea of a nice Sunday hike. Jeremy had pretty much decided he wouldn't go, but I had drug him there and this was the only thing he had asked to really do. So I suggested that he hike it alone and that I would take care of Tucker. He was game for that. So Sunday morning we got up, had breakfast and then I dropped Jeremy off on the trail so that he could hike it and take tons of pictures for me. We drove home on Sunday and got a late start leaving so it put us home about midnight. We missed the fireworks, however we did see some from the highway as we drove past cities and towns along the way. Our trip home was a bit longer because we decided to do the whole cabot trail and ventured all the way around it on our way. Jeremy got some awesome shots of the waterfalls and the other various scenery along the way. We stopped at Green Cove to take a family picture. Jeremy used his tripod to take it. It turned out ok, a little dark, but really not that bad.

That brings us to today, hopefully I will get my act together and start posting a little more often. I finally got batteries for my camera so I can actually take pictures too. LOL Jeremy thinks I'm a little too dependent on him in the picture department. However, I did take some pictures on the Cabot Trail...mostly because he was in the picture! LOL

First Vet Visit

Tucker had his first vet vist today. Poor puppy got his first needle and his first deworming. He cried when the Vet put the needle in. and continued to cry for a bit afterwards and tried to bit the needle that the vet was using. I got a little teared up too...as I was worried about the puppy! He's a good boy and I felt bad for him, however things were soon made better when the vet put food in front of him and he gobbled it up.

Jeremy was a bit upset too about the needle and him crying. The vet just said "he does have shepherd in him" which means I guess that they are a bit whimpy and she said he will be quite vocal with whines and grunts to let us know what kind of mood he's in. I think it's kinda cute, however, Jeremy does not....he thinks....."ohh boy a whimpy dog"

The vet and Jeremy had a big talk about worms and what not, the vet said most puppies have worms, as they get it from the milk of the mother. This of course grossed Jeremy out and he's been walking around ever since saying "I feel the worms in my shoulder/neck/head/arm (insert any other body part)" LOL I laugh at him because I know he's being funny. The vet said not to worry if he happens to poop out any worms that it would be normal and that is the deworming stuff working.

Since Jeremy did the Puppy Plan at the Vet we got some samples and some free toys for Tucker. Well they aren't really free, but anyways, Tucker is now the most spoiled puppy on the planet. LOL I'll have to take a picture of all his toys and him...now would actually be a good time because he's sleeping! lol Jeremy bought him two toys, I got him two toys and the puppy plan had two toys in it...for a grand total of 6 toys, and two more if you count Jeremy and I because we become Jungle Jeremy and Jungle Lisa when we are on the floor with him! lol It's cute now, but in a little while it won't be so cute when he's knocking us both over because he's so big!

Introducing.....Tucker!!!

Jeremy and I got a dog on Tuesday. Rather a puppy, one who is not housetrained, and pees everywhere. He's still cute tho! I have to admit I do enjoy teaching him new things. But what I wouldn't give for a whole night of sleep with out him waking up at all! with no pee breaks, and no whining ohh and no chewing on my fingers and other parts of my body while I'm trying to sleep! lol

Tucker's been coming to work with me, so that we can make him a sociable dog. So far so good, he'll go to anyone who bends down to his level and says his name. It's really rather cute. However, the peeing and pooping...not so cute! LOL

Ohh and to answer the question, that I know is on all your minds. The cats are ok with him. Nellie grew up with mom and dad's dog Lady, so she's ok with the puppy and I think she feels a bit motherly towards him. She follows him around some, and gives him kisses once in awhile. Wink however, growls and hisses when he gets to close and sometimes swat at him. Her and I had a huge talk today about her attitude toward him, she was a bit better tonight he walked up to her as she was standing by me and when I seen they were close I said "Wink...be nice" and she meowed. I'm not sure what she was trying to say...but at least it wasn't a hiss or growl. I'm also not sure if it was directed at me or Tucker...but as I said..either way it was all good.

Ohh...I taught Tucker to chase things and bring them back to me today...not too bad for a 9 week old puppy eh?!?!! Ok...so he doesn't always bring it back to me, but he does bring it back to the area....LOL He won't do it in front of Jeremy so of course I'm sure he doesn't believe me. LOL but I swear it'st true.

Passport Photos Complete!

I finished my application for my passport and today I went to get the pictures taken. I went to the superstore and got them done and it cost me less then 12 dollars!

Flower Time!

I came home today and Jeremy had gotten me flowers! Awww....Sweet...as Jen would say!

I get home and Jeremy is cleaning the living room (yes he cleans...he's in the military afterall!LOL) I go in and talk to him, then back to the kitchen to put my coat away (no not on the back of the chair!lol) then I turn back to the living room he says, did you see what I got you today? No i said as I step back into the kitchen. I look on the table..nope nothing, I'm thinking ok what is it. Then he says on top of the fridge. I look and there is a flower arrangement! My first ones since October, "aww" I said. He smiled at me. I went and gave him a kiss and thanked him and moved the flowers to the table. Jeremy then got playing around with the camera and he took this picture of one of the flowers. Yes, I swear Jeremy took that picture...a photo genious I tell you! Him and Jen could go head to head on this one! Both of them take amazing pictures!

Here are pictures of the full arragement. Pretty nice eh?! I love just because flowers, they are so much more special then the oh It's valentine's day I have to get her flowers...flowers. And today was not off to a good start. It snowed number one, Number two he was late getting up cuz the power went off and number three I took the snowbrush to Fredericton with me. HAHA. So at 9am this morning I got a nice little sarcastic email from him stating "Thanks for leaving the snow brush" HAHA. I don't think I have ever gotten along with anyone like this before, it's nice to be this happy and in a relationship.

What the Hell is that?!?!

That was my question too. I know you are all thinking it! I came home on Monday and this is what was on the wall in my living room. I dunno what it is, but it's not what Jeremy and I had discussed.

We discussed a 3x3 block of pictures on the wall framed with wood. Ok so the frame thing he's half got...lol I dunno what happened to the pictures, but this is what we ended up with. I'm not sure if he thinks it's a masterpiece or not, but I don't want to hurt his feelings so I'll leave it there until the next time he goes off to the field, then I'll go get some frames and fix this thing on my wall! LOL On the plus side, these are all pictures Jeremy took, pretty cool huh?! Except the ugliness of how it's displayed!

Moved In

This is just going to be a quick little message, as I want to wait until I have some pictures to add before posting anything longer.

The move went very well, we moved everything on Tuesday, altho Jeremy and I moved some things on Monday evening. It took about 4 hours to move everything, and we had most things set up right away. There were a few little odds and ends to unpack and what not but mostly everything was done.

Jeremy's stuff still isn't out of storage yet, we'll be expecting that in the next week or two. Not sure how much stuff he has, as the house is nicely done right now, not too crammed with stuff, not to empty. I kinda like it with just my stuff. Ahh well, apparently when you move in with someone you have to share your space and include their stuff with yours! Dang rules! haha!

I have to say that moving in and being here feels right. In a weird kinda way, it feels like this is exactly where I should be in my life. It's an odd feeling, and I can't say I've really ever felt quite this way before. I'll take it though, because it beats the crap out of feeling out of place. It almost feels as though I've always lived here.

I asked Tara today if she thought it was to do with Jeremy and I living together, or because I had moved out from my brother. She said it was probably a combination of the both things. I do kinda miss having Troy around, afterall we have lived together since my breakup with Jeff. But at the same time, it's nice to be on my own again.

Jeremy and I have started some great habits, and I hope they continue. We do our dishes right after supper, we sweep the kitchen floor once a day, the rest of the house is twice a week (well sorta..we've done it twice or more since we moved in).

If I can get my camera to work, I should have pictures sometime this week to put on here. Then everyone will see what I mean about the color of the house, as well as the how small it is! I hope my camera works, cuz I can't afford another one before my trip to Scotland, and I don't think Jeremy will trust me with his camera! LOL

1 Week to Moving Day

It's one week til moving day. Am I excited?? Yes! I haven't been inside the place yet, but I do feel a bit excited, as it climbs closer to the day it seems my excitement has been building, hopefully after I see the place I will get very very very excited!

So many boxes around here, I don't know where I'm going to put everything in that little PMQ!

Atop a Mountain November/December 2006

The picture above is a bunch of pictures taken seperately and Jeremy made them into the creation above. Amazing View eh?!?! Wouldn't you like to build a house there?

One this trip, which turned out to be a trek in the woods, as we went off the beaten path to get to where Jeremy could take some good pictures, on this trip I learned safety is important, however, good pictures are more important. We met up with a couple who were taking pictures as well, he had brought a tripod and offered it to Jeremy to use, however it was cold and the batteries in Jeremy's camera weren't holding a charge, so we opted to let the couple go on their way and we stood there in the cold for what seemed like forever until Jeremy got the perfect pictures to create the above one picture from a bunch of pictures. For some reason there is a cross at the top of the mountain, Jeremy didn't take a picture of it, but it was kind of an eye sore. Jeremy said something about some Priest building it and wanting to put it somewhere where everyone could see, except you can't see it because there are trees and it's ON TOP OF A MOUNTAIN!!! lol

I remember that I didn't want to go walking that day, we had spent the whole time walking and I was about to complain about walking however I'm very glad that I went for the hike.

Hey Jen...You looking for a hiking partner for Mount whatever in Maine?? I bet Jeremy would go with you! I'll watch from the bottom! LOL

Biodome and Olympic Stadium November/December 2006

Jeremy and I took in the Biodome and the Olympic Stadium as well. I had never been to a zoo before, and that's what i figure the biodome is, an indoor zoo! LOL Someday I'll make it to a real zoo, and when I do then I'll know what it looks like. The animals are pretty much free to roam in the building. They have different sections, Rainforest, Arctic, North American, and there was a marine time place too with fish...lots and lots of fish! LOL

I was worried in the rainforest that the birds might poop on my head, LOL, and these were no Crows....we are talking parrots and other HUGE birds. I found just about all the animals on the list except for the Iguana or Cameleon...darn thing..blending in with it's background. I literally spent a lot of time looking for him, and went back when he ended up being the only one I couldn't find! GRRRRR!!!! Next time I'll find him! If only I had a way to bring him out of hiding! LOL Jermey had a field day taking pictures, so...I have to try to find a lot to talk about in order to make the pictures fit on here right. lol! Jen needs to teach me the collage thing she does, so that I can do that with the 7 million pictures Jeremy took of our trip! LOL

I liked the monkey, he was a cutie, the birds were huge I tell ya! LOL Much bigger then anything I've ever seen. The rainforest section was quite warm! I had to take my coat off for fear of stroke..Just kidding it wasn't that bad, but it was warm.

They had a place in there that was glassed in that had frogs (Poisonous ones) and a snake. I had a great time finding all of them. The silly frog with blue spots tho was a hard one to get out of hiding! LOL But he made an appearance, but jumped away again before Jeremy could get the camera angled just so! Silly boy snap the picture and hope it turns out! LOL

The otters were cool, they were playing and wouldn't stay still very long, so Jeremy had a hard time getting a picture of them. I got to see my first ever LIVE porcipine! I have the picture to prove that they were ALIVE, and not squished on the road! LOL There were other cool animals in the North American Section too, umm some beavers I think, and some birds (every room had birds...Melissa wouldn't like it! lol)

See all the fishies in the back ground? It was a huge tank full of fish! I've seriously never seen so many fish all in one place! It was cool to see them and I think Jeremy would have stayed there all day! He had a great time taking pictures of all the fish! There was a crab in the next section, and Jeremy had a great time explaining to me all the different organisms in the same tank as the crab, him being a zoologist makes him somewhat of an expert I guess..LOL

Now to my FAVOURITE part!!!!! the PENGUINS!!!!! The night before we went to see Happy Feet at the IMAX (which was awesome...the movie and the IMAX) So I was very very excited to see the Penguins at the Biodome. I was a bit disappointed that I didn't hear any singing or see any dancing, but they were awesome just the same! Jeremy and I had watched March of the Penguins as well, so I am well informed in what those little guys go through! I think we have a picture of the Puffins too...which are another of my favourites!! If you haven't seen Happy Feet yet...You have to make sure you get it on March 27th and watch it because it's an awesome movie! I could have spent hours sitting there watching the penguins, however, apparently Jeremy didn't want to! LOL

Then it was off to the Olympic Stadium, which I was in awe over, as in 1976 Olympic athletes from all over the world had walked the same path I did, they had stood in the same lobby that I stood in, and they were full of excitement and anticipation! It was not the best of days to go there, we went up the tower (not near as exciting as the CN Tower) and it was iced up on all sides except for one, but Jeremy took some pictures on the way up and the way down and from the top.
