I've had a busy couple of weeks and that is why I have not gotten around to sending updated pictures to anyone, or updating my blog.
I left for New Brunswick on April 10th, which is also the day that my dad passed away. He passed away before I left tho, so I knew what I was going home for. It's sad that I missed seeing him and being able to tell him how much he meant to me and letting him meet Brooke in person and maybe even getting to hold her. But, now he gets to see her whenever he wants to look over us. He can be my babysitter from heaven instead of through the internet.
I arrived in NB at 11pm and was greated at the airport by my Uncle George, well he was the only one I seen at first, and shortly after my Aunt Heather joined us. We went to get my baggage, two suitcases and one car seat. The suitcases arrived just fine, however I quickly found out that my car seat did not leave Edmonton when I did. Air Canada was quite nice to lend me a car seat and told me that they would deliver my car seat the next day.
We started the two hour journey to Doaktown, with a stop at Tim Hortons of course. This was a great thing as I needed to change Brooke and feed her and plus I was in desperate need of some caffine!
Mom and Troy were waiting up for us when we arrived. Mom was so excited to see Brooke. She said I don't know whether I should hug you first or get to see the baby. I suggested that she hug me and I'd flip the blanket up on the baby at the same time! lol She quickly hugged me and then unbuckled the baby and took her out. Troy and Uncle George quickly grabbed my bags out of the truck and brought them in.
I spent most of the two weeks I was in New Brunswick at my mom's house. However, I did sneak one trip to Fredericton to visit my friends and another trip to Fredericton for Brooke's Baptism. Each of which will be posted seperately as I have pictures.
My dad was waked at the house. He had nearly 700 visitors! Which he would have loved, as he loved talking to people and visiting. It also shows how appreciated and loved he was, so many people, most of whom I didn't know. I got very tired of hugging strangers and hearing "how are you doing?" and "I'm so sorry for your loss". But I understand that people do not know what to say in that situation.
The Funeral was on Monday. Another huge turn out for that. I couldn;t believe all the people. Of course, Brooke was a big hit with the family as well as with everyone else that came in the door. It was a nice service, I did fine until the songs started. I said to Mom, who sings at a funeral! She said your father loved music and loved to sing at church. She was right...but still it didn't help me any. The Tersse family sang a song and it was a beautiful song, however I lost it when they mentioned a newborn baby. This is where the crying began for me and it lasted through every song. They also sang Lord of the Dance. I don't think I'll ever be able to hear that song again without crying. This song made me think that if I ever get married, I will not have a Dad to walk me down the aisle, I will not have a dad to dance with at the dance, I will not have a Dad to physically hug anymore...and I sit here crying as I type this, but it's true. I will miss him so much. The one line that sticks out from this song is "Dance, Dance, Wherever you may be"
Overall, it wasn't the best circumstance for a visit to New Brunswick, but I was glad that I could be there with my family when they needed me the most. There lie some hard days ahead for my mom and Troy. They are strong tho and I know they will be fine, as they have each other.

it was a really lovely service. bloody cold that day, and i know this because it was standing room only and we waited outside in the cold! i was amazed, well not really amazed, but i was touched to see so many people there to show their love for your dad and your family. i thought when the preacher opened the can of coke in honour of your dad, i thought that was really special.
